She has come from the sea and has vowed to take over humanity and punish them for all their insolence and vast mistreatment of the ocean. Her first target? This Lemon beach house, closest to the sea. She breaks and makes a hole in their wall. She ends up having to pay the damage costs by working it off. And by spewing her squid ink into their food. Thus begins her hilarious antics as she attempts to take over the world. Straight up hilarious new show this season. I don't think I've laughed any harder nor as much as this show has made me laugh in a good while. Seriously funny show that's well worth watching for the laughs alone I havn't seen Keroro Gunsou, but the setting to this is very reminscent of Keroro for me. One of favourite moments of the 1st ep,

It doesn't assault you with moé. It doesn't flash panties or crotches in your face every few seconds. It doesn't have service scenes. It's an original concept that doesn't rely on parodying real life or making obscure Anime references to survive. It lacks explosions and giant robots. Basically, it's a gentle, calm, funny, cute series that's easy to follow and a wonderful departure from what seems to be normal faire these days. | ||

This is why i generally dislike the use of the term "moé" in general. Everyone's got their own definition and meaning of the word that it just makes it hard to communicate and understand stuff sometimes when there's no clear cut definition to the phrase... =/ To me i consider the cute and clumsiness of Squid Girl, very much moé, yet other people will beg to differ because they've got a different image of what moé should be. Either way i think the "moé-est" and one of the best part of the show thus far has got to be that little Ika-chan segment back in eps 5

It kinda seems like they're playing up to Ika's character design a little more this time around, trying to cash in a little more on her moe or w/e. I felt a little put off by it at first too, but then you realise underneath it all it's still the same old show that you've always been enjoying |
