Some people take the whole Vlema being thicc thing a little too far (and it is probably an inaccurate assumption to begin with).

Just watched the Live Action Movie and around 09:00 Takumi, Itsuki and some other guys sitting at a Baseball field. Itsuki is drinking milk, saying, "It's good for the eyes. A good racer needs good eyes" This post has been edited by Taro Maki on Jul 29 2017, 01:50 AM |

That just means that it doesn't have a defined ending date yet. We don't know how long it will go on. Tessou: 1986-ongoing

Isn't this the equivalent of driving an AE86 in the 90's .. ish ~ At this rate we'll be racing Tesla's vs. George Jetson ..

Not quite, actually. I mean if we take the current GT-R (2017), and this takes place in 202X, then it's between 3-12 years old. The AE86 started in '83 and ended in '87, so driving it in the 90s means it'd be between 3-16 years old depending on the MY and the actual year. And neither is anywhere near the far-fetched hyperbolic shot at equivalency you made at the end of the post. Personally, the only thing that bugs me--and always has--is the parallel-universe-effect of Initial D, where we just conveniently ignore what cars existed when in order to shoehorn neat/new things into the story because there's such a huge gap between production start/stop that the author forgot where his own story took place. It's less a car being old that bothers me--if that did, I wouldn't like Initial D at all--and more cars being present in Initial D that shouldn't have even been there in the first place. Thankfully, this isn't Initial D, so Shigeno can do whatever the fuck he wants. If his only sin thusfar is having a car a mere 3-12 years old be the hero car, then I'd say he's off to a good start.

Assuming Robo Elon Musk isn't making self-flying Tesla's by the time George Jetson is prophetically born .. but then who would be the manufacturer of the Jetsons mobile I wonder if that race queen in the MFG bikini is the lead character's love interest though Anybody else spotted that drone .. MF Ghost - Proudly sponsored by DJI™ Also, Shigeno totally intentionally made the title MF initials like Initial D so he can wait till the last chapter and reveal the true meaning .. my guess: ・ Mecha Flying Ghost!🤖👻

Also I think the protagonist is secretly a K-pop star ~ I'm definitely going crazy Image size reduced, original size: 907 x 711. Click here to view the image in its original dimension. |

Were you expecting something else? Group: Advanced Members Posts: 3,921 Member No.: 20,929 Joined: Oct 14th 2006 Location: Some place in South-East Asia | After how everything newer than Fourth Stage and Extra Stage 2 just failed to get the racing action right most of the time, I'm not optimistic about a good racing anime getting produced anymore. Most of the CG animators that are actually good at animating cars seemingly either left the industry or moved to studios that are too expensive/too busy for Avex, and there doesn't seem to be a director around who actually understands how to make car racing scenes work anymore either. Maybe the manga itself will be passable if Shigeno avoids some of the dumb decisions of Kanagawa-arc Initial D though. Won't expect it to be half as good as early Initial D, but it could at least compare to the racing manga that aren't Initial D, Wangan Midnight and its offshoots, Over Rev, or Capeta. |
