I'm not sure if this has been posted or asked before and I'm sorry if it has. But because I didn't see the answer to me question on the search results I am here ! Since I got into Initial D over the summer I had a lot of free time to burn. So after I finished watching all the way up to the end of Stage 4. I got mad at the cliff hanger they left us with and started reading the manga from the begining. I just finisihed reading chapter 591 and I'm waiting for the new batch of translated scans.
Once again I'm sorry if this has been asked before but its been a burning question that I've been dying to ask! |

I believe it's similar to "aura." It is just a representation or a device to show how good a driver is. I guess Shigeno somehow has to come up with something new to prevent the series from becoming too dull. However, I share the same sentiment with the most here, that the magical "wing" really is something that doesn't belong in Initial D. If this keeps up, I am afraid it might turn into another Dragon Ball... If it's just for aesthetic purposes, then I am all for it. I suppose I really don't want Initial D to turn into a show with magical symbols and lost its realistic touch. |

What bothers me the most is that I can't find translations of the manga past chapter 591 and the manga is already past 600+ chapters. I was just wondering if any one here knows why exactly there were the mysterious kids at a touge race. Also I remember that Ryosuke or someone from Team Zero mentioned 'him' then the fog came down during that match. I don't remember which chapter number it was exactly but they also never explained that. I'm just looking for answers to what happened before, during, and after Project D vs. Team Zero because that part of the story was super confusing to me. |

Sorry Tessou, but I couldn't find exactly what I wanted on the pinned threads. |

I know what you mean, clubcarisma has been really slack lately. |

I don't blame them though. They lead lives outside of scanning and translating manga, it must be tough balancing the two. I admire the scanlators who use their free time to scan and translate all this manga for the enjoyment of other people. We should be thankful that we even got up to chapter 591. |

Couldn't find anything? That thread covers EVERY chapter from 468 onward. You need to look harder. |
Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Oct 2 2011, 04:24 PM |
I didn't say I couldn't find anything, of course I found posts concerning this but they didn't really answer my question. |
Posted by: Perry Oct 2 2011, 04:32 PM |
It's good to have discussion outside of a central thread from time to time. It's extremely hard to sort through that many posts for a side topic. I think someone with better insights of Japanese culture or Shigeno's work can shred more lights on the topic at hand. In my opinion, it is just for show and imaginary. |

I don't think that we have a logic explanation for those wings yet. Only Shin can see them, I think that this proves his extraordinary attitude to see strong drivers during a race. |
Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Oct 2 2011, 04:51 PM |
So does that mean that Shin is a character that is going to pop up again in the later chapters? If that is the case then I'm starting to wonder why these youngsters are showing up to illegal races to watch... |

Spoiler ahead..

Ohohoh! But he's so young! I'm now looking forward to all these new chapters that are in the works of being translated. Now is this speculation or have you actually read up to that point in the series Perry? |
Posted by: Tessou Oct 2 2011, 05:08 PM |
Hopefully, HOPEFULLY, Shigeno ends the manga after that. There would be no excuse after that for Avex to not announce Fifth Stage. |
Posted by: Perry Oct 2 2011, 05:18 PM
I read the Chinese version of Vol.43, check here: https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=26510&view=findpost&p=1216638 It really is getting quite interesting. I too hope this will put an end to Project D, not necessarily Initial D. I want to see Takumi and Keisuke go head to head on a pro circuit later on in the series!!! |
Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Oct 2 2011, 05:19 PM |
I think it's been hinting that the series is going to come to a close now. I mean, Ryosuke's year is up and he has to get back to college to finish his work. I hope Shuichi Shigeno ties up the lose ends and gives all the characters promising futures! If the 5th Stage ends like that I would be able to live in peace. You don't know how many other anime/manga series I've seen with terrible endings. I want to be able to say that Initial D one of my favorite anime/manga series with the best possible ending ever. |
Posted by: Tessou Oct 2 2011, 05:41 PM |
I don't see Takumi going pro. It's just too serious for his personality. Keisuke has already stated that he wants to go that route, so that makes sense. |
Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Oct 2 2011, 05:49 PM
I hope Ryosuke does become a doctor. I think it's great that he wants to save lives... It's so deep! As for Takumi, I really hope he... SPOILERS!
And if Keisuke goes pro what will become of Kenta? Will he become his personal cheerleader? |
Posted by: kyonpalm Oct 2 2011, 05:51 PM
Very true. I can easily see him just settling down with Mika. Well, by "settling down" I don't neccesarily mean quitting racing, but rather just not going pro. @Honda: What was wrong with Kyoko? She's not too yandere. |
Posted by: Tessou Oct 2 2011, 05:55 PM |
Problem with Mika? She has EXACTLY the same face as Takumi, just with different hair. You are all now watching Initial D, where Takumi is dating HIMSELF. |
Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Oct 2 2011, 06:01 PM
I really like Mika's personality, like Takumi she puts a lot of effort into what she does. And that's what I like about her. I never really noticed how they look alike, wow now that's just weird. As for Kyoko, my impression of her is that she is a crazy stalker but I digress... |
Posted by: Sappo Oct 3 2011, 03:06 PM
Mika will become a famous golf player and Takumi will live thanks to the money she gets, forever! End of Initial D. LOL |
Posted by: fuji_tak Oct 8 2011, 11:50 AM |
like bunta, takumi will finish alone with tofu delivery . And Keisuke from pro track will phone him (like Bunta/tsuchiya in stage 1) and will praise his drift. |
Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Oct 8 2011, 02:15 PM
LOL does that mean that the series will start all over again? |
Posted by: that_Z34guy Oct 10 2011, 06:40 PM |
Bit late to the discussion, but aren't the wings sort of figurative in meaning? That's why only Shinn can see it? |
Posted by: Blues Oct 11 2011, 04:44 AM |
That's what I thought. |
Posted by: Sappo Oct 11 2011, 06:25 AM
Yes but Takumi's son will drive an FT-86, that will become an old sports car when he'll grow up! |
Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Oct 11 2011, 06:46 AM
Oh intresting... Does that mean that Takumi will grow up to become almost as awesome as Bunta? And then who's the mother? |
Posted by: that_Z34guy Oct 11 2011, 11:37 PM
Wouldn't it be nice if it was Mika? What sort of crazy impossible thing would Takumi instruct his son to do on the togue that's like the water in a cup? |
Posted by: iBambamFC Oct 18 2011, 07:20 AM
Why wouldn't he just do what Bunta did? Put the water in the cup. Although I really can't see Takumi beating his son for spilling water lol. I can see Takumi not forcing his son into driving and racing though, it's just not his personality. |

My theory is that it was a combination of a figurative "aura" and fog/mist (which Hakone is famous for according to Initial D) flowing around the body of the AE86 that caused him to think it looked like it had wings. I think this is just another "level" of auras. It was probably used to make Shinji look like a crazy-high level driver. |
